What do trips include?

In general, trips include accommodations, mentioned activities and experiences, local transfers (road or air as planned), and a set of meals. Every excursion comes with a trained guide who stays with you the entire time and knows the language. However, these details may vary for a trip you would be undertaking. You would find inclusions mentioned on each trip page and we recommend that you go through it to plan better.

Flights (origin to the nearest port where the trip begins) are not included. However, some transfers during the trip may be by air. For your convenience, the majority of excursions begin and end in a large city with an international airport.

A number of meals are included in the trip cost but these vary by the trip. Please check out the itinerary for more details on what’s included. We will collect dietary and allergy information before the trip commences to ensure you’re taken care of. You may also ask your local guides for tips on where to eat.

What are the accommodations like?

The accommodations differ from trip to trip. Depending on the theme, it might range from glamping to boutique hotels. We don’t stay at hostels or hotels below 3 stars. We work hard to offer an experience that is not just genuine but also convenient and welcoming.

Activities included vary from trip to trip and are based on the host and the theme of the trip. Please refer to the trip itinerary to see which activities are included.

How many people will be on my trip?

From 4 to 20 in general, depending on the trip and style. However, the specific group size for a trip is displayed on the respective trip page.

Where do I meet fellow travellers and the host/expert?

At least two weeks before the start of your trip, we will email you a complete itinerary that includes all the information you need to know, including accommodation and airport transportation details. You'll be welcomed to a group chat before your journey so you can get to know the other Travelers and start exchanging information. Each trip will begin with a welcome dinner so that you can get to know everyone after settling into your room. Bon Appetit!

Who do I share my room with?

You will share a twin occupancy room unless you pay an extra fee to get a single supplement. Unless you specifically want a roommate, we'll pair you up with someone of the same gender. To request a roommate, be sure to include your roommate's name in the "Special Requests" section.

When will you provide the final itinerary?

At least two weeks before your trip, we'll give you a full itinerary that includes hotel and travel details as well as all essential travel information.

What do I need to bring?

We recommend that you pack clothes & accessories that are comfortable and that will be well suited to the activities and climate specific to your expedition. Prior to your journey, you'll receive a packing list tailored to your destination. You must have a passport that is up to date and valid for at least six months after your return date in order to leave the country. You may need a visa to undertake an international travel. Despite the fact that we don’t offer visas or advice on visas, you can visit your local consulate to learn more. Email us at hello@zoola.com with any specific queries you may have regarding what to bring.

Are there limits to how much I can pack?

We advise all visitors to pack as lightly as possible because we'll be using shared transportation during our tour. Each traveler may bring one piece of checked luggage with a maximum weight of 50 pounds (23 kg), one piece of hand luggage with a maximum size of 12 inches by 11 inches by 6 inches, and one personal item. If you have a special request, email us at hello@zoola.com

Do people travel solo?

All the time. In fact, this is what makes Zhoola trips so stunning. Many of our travelers are solo and find it fulfilling to connect with and learn from like-minded individuals over shared interest.

Will there be downtime?

Yes, most trips have ample downtime for you to relax or explore more. However, it varies for each trip. Read your itinerary for more details on what to expect.

What are Zhoola’s physical activity levels?

Choose how you want to have fun. Some trips are designed for rest and relaxation, while others are designed to take you out of your comfort zone. Activity Level Ratings let you know exactly what to expect before you sign up. This helps build confidence, reduces surprises, and ensures everyone has a good time. Each trip will have its physical activity level rating clearly marked based on the amount of physical exertion it requires. The rating system is simple: The higher the level, the more challenging the trip.

What if I want to go on a trip but not participate in all the activities?

No problem! You join a trip to have fun and enjoy as per your liking. You don’t need to do anything that you don’t want to. Just let your guide or us know ahead of time.

How difficult is the trek on my trip? Do I need to train in advance?

Trek on trips ranges from relatively easy to moderately difficult and doesn’t need any training in advance, in general. The easiest way to determine if a trek is right for you is to check the trip page.

Is gear included?

Yes. Your itinerary will have all the details on what's provided for your specific trip — just be sure to pack your favorite shoes and clothes!

Does Zhoola offer travellers' insurance?

We don’t. But recommend you to get one. We do hope you don’t face a situation where you need travel insurance protection but let’s agree, life happens. We all know a friend or two with misplaced luggage or a medical emergency. You may already have coverage through your work, credit card, or annual travel policy. If not, we strongly recommend you purchase one before your trip.

What if I arrive late for my trip?

If you arrive a day or two into the itinerary, it will be your responsibility to ‘catch up’ with the group. Please reach out to the local guide and they will provide the most up-to-date information on how to join the group. Zhoola can not reimburse you for any portion of the trip unused, but missed portion due to a delayed flight can often be claimed on your travel insurance.

I still have questions. How can I contact you?

Where do I find essential trip information

Essential information is mentioned on the booking page of the trip. In addition, you will get a detailed itinerary at least 2 weeks prior to the trip.

Do I need to buy a travel insurance?

We do hope you don’t face a situation where you need travel insurance protection but let’s agree, life happens. We all know a friend or two with misplaced luggage or a medical emergency. You may already have coverage through your work, credit card, or annual travel policy. If not, we strongly recommend you purchase one before your trip.

How do I find out about the visa requirements for the trip I am interested in?

While basic visa information is included in the itinerary, we always recommend that travelers check with their local embassy as visa rules can change without warning. What currency and how much should I carry in cash? Can I use credit card during the trip?

Your itinerary details include a section on money. There may be restrictions on how much currency you can carry to a specific destination. It is a good idea to travel with a credit card and ATM card. Also having a couple of options would be wise just in case.

While it’s not a requirement, we continue to strongly recommend that all travelers and leaders get vaccinated to protect themselves and others. Specific proof of testing or vaccination may still be required by your destination or airline. Please ensure you check travel and entry requirements carefully. Please see our Covid-19 section for more details.

We generally use ground transport if the non-stop transit is less than 3 hours. Sometime, you may fly while covering longer distances during the trip. For more details, please look through the itinerary details.

Is tipping commonplace and how much to tip?

While you may not require to tip, it’s expected in many places. You may ask you host for the local customs and norm.
